GUBELIN

Gübelin, a Swiss family firm, is renowned for its expertise in Gemmology, as well as its exquisite Jewelry and fine watches. The company's history began in 1854, when Jakob Breitschmid established a watchmaker's shop in Lucerne. In the late 1870s, Eduard Jakob Gübelin became Breitschmid's apprentice and eventually took over the business in 1899, renaming it House of Gübelin.

In 1903, Gübelin opened a boutique on Schwanenplatz, followed by its own jewellery workshops in 1923. Gübelin's son, Eduard Moritz, established a gemmological laboratory in the same year, marking the beginning of one of the world's most respected gemmological labs.

After World War II, Eduard's sons took over the business. Walter managed the ateliers, while Eduard Josef oversaw the gems and laboratory. Eduard Josef's groundbreaking research in gemstones and photomicrography paved the way for the Gübelin gemmological laboratory to become a trusted source of analysis and reports for corporate clients around the world. Today, the Gübelin gemmological laboratory has branches in Hong Kong, New York, and Lucerne.
